The Sony Bravia kdl-26l5000 brings to HDTV at a price that anyone can afford. While 720p resolution and 13,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio isn’t as powerful as some high definition TV’s it comes with a price tag that’s affordable. And It’s perfect for the bed room as a second TV or smaller apartment buildings where you don’t have the space for a larger television.
At 26 inches it may be on the smaller size as far as HDTV’s go and may be considered an entry level model, but it still has a lot of the features of the more expensive models . To begin with the picture quality and sound is more than adequate for a smaller sized TV. One of the advantages it has over larger sizes is that it’s extremely light and easy to mount just about anywhere you want to mount it, even up on the wall so it doesn’t take up space on the floor. The device has a lot if input options and hence can be used in various other ways than just watch plain television. It can be used as a monitor for a computer, play station etc. The setup is very easy and has a lot of HDMI connections that can be used. The picture quality is outstanding at 720p and is even better when used to watch blu-ray discs on it. DVDs also appear to be a lot better on it than any of the alternate models. It is also very attractive to look at, as it comes with a black dull finish and not the glossy one which, in fact reflects light and makes it difficult while watching the screen.
The remote control of the TV is very easy to use with various functions and well organized buttons, but the best part is that the same can be used as a universal remote for any other device at home. The clarity and color remains stable over large vertical viewing angles making it convenient when there is a larger audience. Also, there is an option of choosing between viewing the screen as zoom, wide or normal. The image does not become stretched awkwardly when the options are used and makes even the scroll on the bottom of the screen visible with ease. And Sony is a brand name the user cannot ignore when deciding to purchase a piece of technology. Once done, it would never let the user down but in fact make him even happier with the features and the price tag.
There is an efficient tuner in the device but it does not show the strength of the signal when the user is trying to use the device as a portable one and that makes it difficult in positioning the antenna. The screen turns much darker after there’s a dark scene coming on the TV and then turns to normal almost instantly. This can be quite disturbing to the users especially if they are watching in a low light area. But overall the kdl-26l5000 is a great HDTV for the price and it comes from a major manufacturer who’s been around awhile.

| Bought to replace a smaller-screen TV in our bedroom. The larger size is much appreciated, but the quality of the picture is beyond any I've seen. We have had other LCD HDTV sets, but this one far exceeds the picture quality of our other sets. Easy to set up. I got a wall mount for this size set and the entire installation took just a few minutes. Highly recommended and worth the extra money. |

| my first hd flat panel. spent a considerable amount of time researching and reading reviews trying to decide what would be my first hd tv. but in the end i came across this one, and with confidence in sony, it was a blind buy. been with it for a month now and i couldn't be more pleased with this tv. @ 720p the picture is stunning. blu-rays on this thing are gorgeous, as are my ps3 games. sound is surprisingly louder and clearer than i expected. as a bedroom set you couldn't ask for better. next, the living room set will definitely be a bravia. |
One of life's little bargains!

At the price you may not at first think of this little SONY as a bargain, but wait until you've owned if for a month or so. If you have wasted time trying other, less expensive sets, as many of us have, then you will know what I mean by bargain!
Marvelous picture. Easy to set up and program.Easily moved around. I don't understand the negative comments about sound. What do you want?....a stereo system or a television set??!
This is a GREAT little television. |

| I bought this t.v. after getting fed up with my Norcent LCD unit. I love this set! The picture is crystal clear from any angle. It's super light, and pretty thin too. It was easy to hook up my DVD and Wii, and I have several ports to spare. It comes with a remote that can be used as a universal remote, which is great. The whole thing is just fantastic, and if you're looking for a t.v. I would say go for this one...you won't be disappointed! |
